The Future of Transatlantic Relations

The 'Sciences Po' Alumni in the UK and the French Embassy
present the third conference of their series on International relations,
one month ahead of the first-round of the French presidential election

Thursday 22nd March 2007 - 7.00pm to 8.30pm / In English

At the Institut Français
Ticket: £5 (conc. £4)

Relations between the US and the EU (and notably France) have been strained in recent years with disagreements over issues ranging from the Iraq-war to the Kyoto Protocol and the International Criminal Court.

Is it a sign of growing divergence of values, as some argue, or is it only a difficult time in an otherwise well-functioning relationship?

The debate will be chaired by:

Ms Aurore Wanlin
Research Fellow at the think tank Centre for European Reform (CER)
Former member of the cabinet of the previous European Trade Commissioner (Pascal Lamy)

Guest speakers:

Dr Paul Cornish
Head of the International Security Programme at the Royal Institute of International Affairs ( Chatham House)

Mr Tomas Valasek
Director of Foreign Policy & Defence at the think tank Centre for European Reform (CER)
Former Director of the Brussels office of the Centre for Defence Information

Dr Michael Williams
Head of the Transatlantic Programme at RUSI (Royal United Services Institute for Defence and Security Studies), the 'think tank of the British Ministry of Defence'

Best regards,

Gabriel Piérard
Comité conférence
